Founding Members

The founder members of the Society are eminent people with lifetime experience in the government, academia and industry and all have held high positions in their respective fields. The strength of the society derives from their talent, achievement and integrity. A descriptive note on the founding members is given below.

Dr. J.P. Singh
Ex-IAS, PhD (History) from University of London. Noted administrator has been Secretary Government of India in the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, as also Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, not to mention various high administrative posts in which he served as IAS. He has also been the chairman of various public sector units in fields such as Co-op land development, Co-op marketing finance, industrial investment, agriculture, cement, spinning mill and housing development. He is also the Chairman of Delhi Urban Arts Commission, a body which oversees the integrity of built environmental in the capital of India.

Dr. Atul Sarma
Post Doctoral fellow of MIT Cambridge, USA. A well known economist and academic, he has held the post of professor of economics in various national level educational institutions. Dr. Sarma is a visiting professor in a number of universities in India and abroad. He has been a Consultant to international agencies such as FAO, Escap and UNIDO and has served as Economic Advisor to Finance Commissions in India. On the Board of Assam & Manipur State Planning Boards he is also a member of Technology Planning Board. He is also on Committees constituted by the Central and State Governments, Planning Commission, University Grants Commission and Indian Council of Social Science Research. He has also served as the Head of Indian Statistical Institute Delhi Centre.

Shri Birendra Bejoy Thakur
Master of Engineering (Public Health). Shri Thakur is an eminent engineer and has served as Chief Engineer of Public Health Department. Govt. of West Bengal. He was responsible for overseeing the designing, execution, budgeting and monitoring of various water supply and sanitation schemes notably in the Ganga Action Plan and later in the Yamuna Action Plan on behalf of international consultants.

Shri Suddhodan Roy
MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, Professional Manager and Civil engineer of repute and specialized in prefabricated housing. Shri Roy served as the Chairman and Managing Director of a Public Sector Company in the Civil engineering infrastructure sector for a number of years. He has served in developing countries outside India for years, and constructed a township in Libya where he was the project manager. He is also a teacher of Management subjects and participates in Committees of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

Shri Anurag Gupta
Mr. Anurag Gupta is a Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has 17 years of experience with reputed companies in manufacturing and service sector. He is experienced in a wide range of accounting and financial services including Tax and company law matters. He has also spent time in Indonesia as Chief Financial Officer of a multi-national company. He is at present working with an American financial multi-national company in India.

Dr. Guruchain Singh
PhD (Sociology)Jawaharlal Nehru University. Shri Singh is Senior Lecturer at the faculty of Rural Development in IGNOU. He has held important positions in academics and has published several research papers in the field of Sociology. His chosen field is Rural Development.

Shri Susanta Deb
Post Graduate in Corporate Law. He has been Secretary General of All India Industrial Gas Manufacturers Association and editor of trade journals. Member of BIS committees on Standardization.

Shri Ravi D Gautam
Shri Gautam is an MBA and a specialist in building materials and has experience in the manufacture of building materials required for the cost effective construction in the developing world. He also has a Diploma in Ceramics and has worked on appropriate technologies for manufacture of materials using community participation. He has also had experience in running precast concrete manufacturing establishments and has experience in the use of flyash in concrete as an environmental step towards pollution abatement.
